Roon

Roon is, in essence, an interface to unify your digital music into one place. They can bring together you locally stored music library, Tidal, Qobuz, Internet Radio, and some others as well. This unified interface comes with great user friendly features such as a single search to bring all libraries together, awesome explorability, and great information on the artists and albums you love. Additionally, there are some incredible power features from up-sampling to full parametric EQ and room correction available within the software.

Roon operates on a central “core” in your system. This can be a PC, Mac, or dedicated Roon Core piece of hardware. While Roon is first and foremost a software company, they also have a line of Roon cores which offer different capabilities and storage limits. 

Roon operates on a subscription or lifetime license. This license gets you full access to their software, but is independent of your subscriptions to streaming services. They also have a newer feature called “Roon ARC” which allows you to bring this unified library on the road with you, either on a phone or other web-connected device!

To fully understand Roon, you need to spend some time with it. They allow in-home trials for a few weeks, and of course here at the shop you can try ours!
